E. William Radany, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer
E. William Radany has over 25 years experience in the biotechnology industry. Prior to joining Verdezyne, he was the President and CEO of High Throughput Genomics, Inc., a provider of novel array-based gene expression assay technology for the life science industry. Previously, Dr. Radany was President of Biacore and founder and CEO of NeoGenex. Dr. Radany has held executive positions at Xencor, Caliper Technologies and Stratagene, where he helped establish business relationships with major pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Dr. Radany has spoken at numerous conferences and has invented several patents over the past 25 years. Dr. Radany received his Bachelor of Science degree in Cell Biology from Colorado State University and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Physiology from the University of Wyoming.
Stephen Picataggio, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer
Stephen Picataggio has over 30 years experience in metabolic engineering of industrial microorganisms and developing fermentation processes for the production of fuels and chemicals. Prior to joining Verdezyne, Dr. Picataggio was Vice President of metabolic engineering at Synthetic Genomics, Inc., and held various leadership positions at Dupont, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and Henkel/Cognis Corp. He was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is the recipient of several awards as well as an inventor on more than 45 issued and pending patents. Dr. Picataggio received his Bachelor of Science degree in Bacteriology and Public Health from Wagner College and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Rutgers University.
Steve Jackson, Chief Financial Officer
Steve Jackson is a certified public accountant with over 20 years of progressive accounting and finance experience. Prior to joining Verdezyne, he was a principal in a small consulting firm practicing process improvement and SOX compliance providing services to public accounting firms, mid-cap public companies and small start-ups. Mr. Jackson was director of internal audit at REMEC Inc., Vice President at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a Fortune 500 defense contractor, and a senior consultant at Price Waterhouse. Mr. Jackson received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Science degree in Accountancy from San Diego State University.
Nancy Oleski, Ph.D., J.D., Senior Vice President of Intellectual Property and General Counsel
Nancy Oleski has been practicing law in the biotechnology industry for more than 17 years. Prior to working at Verdezyne, Dr. Oleski was Vice President for Codexis, Inc., where she was responsible for developing and implementing a worldwide strategy for all intellectual property matters for platform technologies and for each of its business units including biofuels/bioindustrials, pharmaceutical services and generic drugs. Prior to joining Codexis, Inc., Dr. Oleski held positions at Nuvelo, Inc. and Amgen, Inc. Dr. Oleski began her career as a patent agent at Genentech Inc. followed by the law firm of Townsend and Townsend. Dr. Oleski received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Scripps College, Master of Science in Plant Physiology from Colorado State University, Ph.D. in Plant Biochemistry from the University of California and her J.D. from the Golden Gate University School of Law.
Damien Perriman, Vice President Business Development
Damien Perriman develops partnerships that advance the commercialization of Verdezyne's proprietary bioprocesses for converting renewable raw materials to biobased industrial products. Prior to joining Verdezyne, Mr. Perriman was a senior commercial leader for The Dow Chemical Company's Bioscience Platform, where he led multi-functional teams to identify and validate projects for biobased chemicals. Prior to joining Dow, Mr. Perriman served as the deputy trade commissioner to the Americas for the Queensland Government of Australia and in technical sales with Mirotone, a specialty chemicals company. Mr. Perriman holds a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Chemistry from the University of New South Wales, Australia and an MBA from the University of California Los Angeles, Anderson School of Management. He has spoken on issues of sustainable development at numerous conferences and serves on several government and industry advisory boards.
