Len Cosentino, President and CEO
Mr. Cosentino joined NDI in 2006 as part of the executive management team, serving a VP of Business Development and General Counsel. He played a key role in establishing NDI’s strategic direction and guiding NDI through the investment process culminating with the acquisition by Medtronic, of which Mr. Cosentino was the principal architect. Mr. Cosentino brings to the Company a broad range of experience assisting early stage technology companies, public and private companies, venture capital firms and entrepreneurs with complex merger, acquisition, joint venture, finance and investment transactions. Before joining NDI in 2006, Mr. Cosentino provided transactional and general legal services to the NDI as a partner in the Cleveland, Ohio based law firm of McDonald Hopkins, LLC. Mr. Cosentino is a 1984 graduate (Summa Cum Laude) of Grove City College with a BA in Social Work. A 1987 graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law (magna cum laude, Order of the Coif), Mr. Cosentino began his legal career at the law firm of Jones Day in Cleveland, Ohio. From 1993 to 2000, Mr. Cosentino served as Vice President and General Counsel of a privately-owned company in the insurance industry where he served both as legal counsel and in operations management. He is also Chairman of the Board of the Scranton Road Ministries CDC, on the Board of Directors of Ohio Coalition of eSchool Families and Ocean Energy Systems, LLC.
Stephen Jacobs, Vice President of Sales
Mr. Jacobs has over 20 years of medical sales, sales management and business development experience primarily with various Abbott & J&J operating companies. Most recently he served as Area Vice President for Depuy Spine playing a key role in the restructuring and enhanced sales performance of the Mountain Area. Mr. Jacobs also was an initial member of the leadership team at Centocor during its commercial phase where he played a significant role in the launch, adoption, and growth of Remicade. That effort contributed to net sales of $1B for the company during the fourth year of promotion. Mr. Jacobs is a graduate (Magna Cum Laude) of Franklin Pierce University with a BS in Biology.
Michael R. Hausman, M.D., Chief Medical Advisor
Michael Hausman, MD is the Robert K. Lippmann Professor of Orthopedics at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Vice-Chairman and Chief of Hand and Elbow Surgery in the Department of Orthopedics at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Hausman graduated, cum laude, from Yale College and Yale Medical School and did his orthopedic training at Yale prior to studying hand surgery with Drs. J. William Littler and Richard Eaton in New York. He has published numerous, peer-reviewed, articles on hand, elbow and microvascular reconstruction and has won an OREF grant for his work on regulating angiogenesis in bone.
Dr. Hausman serves as a consultant editor for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research and the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery. He has chaired numerous courses for the AAOS and American Society for Surgery of the Hand and serves on the Council of the ASSH. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and numerous reviews and book chapters. He holds several patents which have been successfully commercialized and is a founding investor in NDI.
Kevin Scanlan, OTR, Director of Training and Education
Mr. Scanlan has been employed by NDI Medical since 2004 working primarily on motor control development projects. He graduated cum laude from the Medical College of Georgia earning a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy.
Mr. Scanlan has more than 30 years experience, including 15 years in clinical practice before joining industry, working in the field of neurostimulation devices. Projects include both clinical studies and post market clinical training and education for restoring hand grasp with an implantable motor neuroprosthesis, treating foot drop through surface stimulation, providing micturition with an implantable pulse generator, and treating incontinence with the world’s smallest rechargeable implanted stimulator. Mr. Scanlan has trained physicians and therapists in the delivery of these therapies in over 70 hospitals across the US and in Europe.
Terri Zmina, MBA, PT, Director of Operations
Ms. Zmina joined NDI Medical as the Manager of Business Development in June 2003 and has also served as the Director of Marketing and Director of Business Development. At NDI, she was responsible for intellectual property management, business and market opportunity analysis, and the development of reimbursement strategy for emerging neurostimulation/ neuromodulation products, including coding, coverage and payment. She also oversaw marketing and customer service for the ODFS Foot Drop Stimulator and the Vocare Bladder System.
Prior to joining NDI, Ms. Zmina was Reimbursement Manager for a venture capital based neuroprosthetic company where she developed positive reimbursement coverage for neurostimulation products for individuals with spinal cord injury. Ms. Zmina holds a B.S. in Physical Therapy and a M.B.A. in Health Care Administration with 20 years of clinical and management experience. Ms. Zmina has been involved with the neurostimulation device industry for ten years, has been a speaker on Reimbursement at the NeuroTech Leaders Forum and is a member of AdvaMed.
