Brian Baker, Chief Executive Officer Brian Baker oversees Widevine’s business strategy, financing, development and technology. Baker founded the company in May 1999 and was promoted to the position of CEO in 2001. Baker has raised over $65 million in equity and debt financing from venture funds and strategic corporate partners. During his tenure Widevine has achieved profitability and become the global leader in providing video optimization and multiplatform content protection for telecom, cable, satellite and Internet video services. He is Widevine's primary interface to the major motion picture studios and broadcasters. Baker is also the sole and/or co-author of many issued and pending international patents for content protection and video optimization.
Prior to the creation of Widevine, Baker held a business development role at Advanced Radio Technologies, a developer of microwave broadband technologies and services. Baker holds a degree from the University of Washington School of Business with a concentration in Computer Science and Corporate Finance.
Glenn Morten, Executive Vice President of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer Glenn Morten brings to Widevine more than twenty-five years of experience in product development leadership roles. Responsible for Widevine’s product strategy and delivery, Morten has led content protection and video optimization innovations from initial product release through multiple generations. Under his direction Widevine has won numerous product awards and recognitions. Prior to joining Widevine he was Vice President of Development for CyberSafe Corporation where he developed e-security.
Previously, Morten was Director of Development at Spacelabs Medical specializing in wireless, internet and connectivity. Morten held various leadership roles for Abbott Laboratories and Texas Instruments and served as an officer in the US Army. He holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science from West Virginia University and a Master of Science in systems management from the University of Southern California. Morten holds 11 issued patents for video optimization and DRM and is an inventor of numerous pending patents. Morten serves on the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS).
Jeremy Horwitz, Vice President of Security Research and Co-founder Mr. Horwitz leads Widevine's R&D efforts in security and cryptography. In the past, he has built new cryptographic models for AT&T Research and worked for Microsoft in both development and research capacities, including contributions to ScanDisk and Windows DVD support. His research work at Microsoft concentrated on software piracy issues and cryptographic theory. Jeremy's published papers cover the development of cryptographic models, the construction of cryptographic protocols, and the analysis of known protocols. Jeremy holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science, a Master's degree in Mathematics from Carnegie-Mellon University, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University.
Douglas A. Light, Sr. Vice President of Global Sales and Business Development Doug Light joined Widevine in 2005 and is responsible for global sales and business development. He brings over 30 years of domestic and international experience selling to MSOs, satellite delivered service providers, RBOCs and PTTs worldwide. Prior to joining Widevine he spent 16 years with Motorola/General Instrument/Next Level Communications and 15 years with Scientific Atlanta in various sales, management and business development roles. He holds a degree in engineering from Capitol Radio Engineering Institute.
Jason Davis, Vice President of Finance Jason Davis joined Widevine in January 2001 bringing more than 15 years of experience in finance and accounting in the high-tech and telecommunications industries. Prior to Widevine, Davis was responsible for financial and tax reporting, public filings and management of the Finance groups during periods of rapid revenue, customer and employee growth at Active Voice Corporation (subsequently acquired by Cisco), a leading provider in unified messaging and telephony; and Envision Telephony, a provider of software solutions focusing on call centers and workforce management. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in business and accounting from the University of Washington and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.
Mani Aliabadi, General Counsel Mani Aliabadi joined Widevine in March 2005 as the head of Widevine's legal department focused on corporate and intellectual property law. His background includes corporate, intellectual property and litigation experience. At Widevine, Aliabadi leads a legal group responsible for the management and oversight of corporate governance, mergers/acquisitions, business development activities, intellectual property protection and licensing, regulatory compliance, risk and litigation management. Prior to Widevine, Aliabadi served as corporate counsel for a software security and publishing firm based in Los Angeles and at Microsoft in intellectual property licensing for Xbox games. Aliabadi holds a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law and is licensed to practice in Washington and California.
