  1001 - RA / Sr. RA - Cell Based Assays

Summary:

An integral member of a team initiating drug discovery on novel targets.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform cell based assay development for compound screening.
  • Evaluate various assay technologies, assay miniaturization and assay automation.
  • Perform compound screens to support hit to lead and lead optimization efforts.

Education and Requirements:

  • BS degree with a minimum of two years industry experience in cell based assays.
  • Experience with cell based assays in 96 or 384 well format and liquid handling automation a plus.
  • Ability to plan and troubleshoot experiments independently.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and drive projects that affect critical timelines.

  1002 - RA / Sr. RA - Biology

Summary:

We are seeking highly motivated, broadly trained scientists to join our biology group.  Successful candidates will serve as integral members of a multidisciplinary drug discovery team developing novel inhibitors targeting epigenetic enzymes implicated in cancer.  They will employ a variety of molecular and cell biology techniques to understand target biology, and develop cell based assays for small molecule inhibitors.

Responsibilities:

  • Validation of epigenetic targets through RNAi and small molecule approaches.
  • Performing biological mechanism of action studies on lead compounds.
  • Developing and executing cell based assays for inhibitors.

Education and Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Biology or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience, preferably in an industry setting.
  • Proficiency in a wide range of molecular and cell biological techniques including cloning, PCR, mammalian cell culture, RNAi, western blot analysis, ELISA and qRT-PCR.
  • Experience with cell-based assay development and lentiviral shRNA technologies is highly desirable.
  • A background in oncology is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills are essential.

Summary:

Epizyme seeks a highly motivated, innovative scientist to join our biological sciences group to identify and validate epigenetic targets for drug discovery and development projects with an emphasis in oncology.  The successful candidate will also be responsible for the assessment and development of technologies to enhance our drug discovery efforts.  Qualified candidates will be expected to work collaboratively and communicate well both within group and across group settings and will be proficient in experimental design, execution of experiments, data analysis and interpretation and data presentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Characterizing and validating epigenetic targets for drug discovery and development projects with an emphasis in oncology.
  • Independently design studies and participate in team efforts.
  • Assess and develop new technologies to evaluate the therapeutic relevance and mechanisms of novel targets and support drug discovery programs.
  • The candidate will be expected to have a strong presence in the laboratory and act as a resource for a core group of research associates.

Education and Requirements:

  • Technical skills in molecular biology, RNA interference, cell-based assays, protein analysis and gene expression analysis, chromatin immunoprecipitation.
  • Proficient in experimental drug design, execution of experiments, data analysis and interpretation, and data presentation.
  • Must have demonstrated experience and success with oncology - or epigenetic-related model systems and techniques.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and drive projects that affect critical timelines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience in a team environment.
  • A PhD with at least 3 years of post-doctoral experience in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline and 5+ years of relevant experience in academia or industry.

  1007 - Scientist / Senior / Principal Scientist - Biology

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join our biology group.  The successful candidate will serve as a key member of a multidisciplinary drug discovery project team and lead biology efforts to identify, characterize and develop novel oncology drug candidates targeting epigenetic enzymes. This position is ideal for scientists interested in translating the rapid progress in the field of epigenetics into new classes of therapeutics.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and validating cell based assays for inhibitors.
  • Performing detailed biological mechanism of action studies on lead compounds including characterization in relevant in vivo models.
  • Developing biomarker strategies to track inhibitor activity in vivo and identify responsive tumor types.

Education and Requirements:

  • A PhD in biology, or related field.
  • A minimum of three years of post doctoral experience in cancer and/or epigenetic research.
  • Industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Track record of accomplishment, including publications in cancer biology and/or epigenetics.
  • Experience with state-of-the-art methods for molecular and cellular analysis.
  • Highly motivated, innovative and independent.
  • Ability to oversee internal research and external collaborations.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communications skills, both written and oral.

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist for our Medicinal Chemistry Group, who will be the chemistry project leader for a new project and possibly manage an internal lab as well as CRO-based chemists.  The successful candidate will be responsible for independently developing and implementing medicinal chemistry strategies that effectively surmount complex research problems and facilitate the achievement of key corporate goals - on time and on budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide chemistry project leadership.
  • Devise and implement medicinal chemistry strategies addressing critical project issues.
  • Coordination of project activities with other disciplines.
  • Support patent filings.
  • Lead an internal chemistry group.
  • Manage outsourced employees.

  • 5 - 10 years pharmaceutical experience.
  • Deep understanding of synthetic and medicinal chemistry, as evidenced by a record of achievement (publications, patents, etc.).

  • An ideal candidate will also have had experience with structural based design and experience with novel technologies such as fragment based hit optimization.
