Pleasanton CA â December 1 2009 -- The new position of Executive Vice President Commercial Affairs at Microchip Biotechnologies Inc. has been taken up by Howard Goldstein a biotech lab systems executive with more than 30 years of experience creating and managing life science product organizations. Mr. Goldstein will direct Microchip Biotechnologies marketing business development sales and customer service operations as the company makes the transition from product development to full commercial operations.

President and CEO
Dr. Stevan Jovanovich is President and CEO of IntegenX, a company he co-founded in 2003 to better optimize sample preparation for the life sciences. At IntegenX he has been the Principal Investigator on over $10 M of grants and contracts focused on DNA sequencing, biodefense, and forensics. He currently leads a growing team of talented professionals dedicated to commercializing the technology.
Dr. Jovanovich is an internationally recognized expert in microfluidics and an experienced global commercial leader. Before co-founding IntegenX, Dr. Jovanovich was Vice President of Global Research at Amersham Biosciences where he led a team of 120 scientists and engineers and drove multiple business projects across six international sites.
Prior positions include Science Director at Amersham Biosciences, Manager of Advanced Research at Molecular Dynamics, Staff Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Director of Microbiology at AbTox Inc, and founder of Molecular Solutions.
Dr. Jovanovich has proven expertise in microbiology, molecular genetics, microbial physiology, object-oriented programming, robotics, genomics, systems biology, and instrument and systems development. He is author of over 20 papers and an inventor on over 20 US patents. He holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Physics and Life Sciences from MIT, and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from University of California at Davis.

Mr. Goldstein comes to IntegenX with more than 30 years experience in creating and managing life sciences product organizations. He has been responsible for building and directing marketing, engineering & sales teams that have created more than 10 key product categories in the research marketplace.
He began his career with LKB Instruments and later held senior level positions directing marketing, sales and customer service for Amnis Corporation, Molecular Devices Corporation, Molecular Dynamics, Inc., and Applied Biosystems, Inc. Mr. Goldstein was founder, president and CEO of the eBioinformatics unit of Entigen Corporation, senior vice president at Incyte Genomics and Synteni Corporation which was acquired by Incyte. Before joining IntegenX, he served as CEO and Chief Commercial Officer for Arcxis Biotechnologies as well as Managing Partner of Practical Marketing & Sales, a marketing and sales consultation company.
Mr. Goldstein received his M.B.A in Organizational Development from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA., and a M.Sc. in Biochemistry from University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio after receiving his B.Sc. in Biology from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
Executive Vice President, Research & Development
Ezra has extensive leadership experience in research and development from positions held in the life science, medical device and semi-conductor equipment industries. Immediately prior to joining IntegenX, Ezra headed instrument and reagent development for DNA and RNA sample preparation at Arcxis Biosciences. At Molecular Dynamics, Amersham and GE Healthcare Ezra held the position of Vice President for Development for the West Coast and led development for DNA sequencing and cell analysis. In the semiconductor industry he directed the development of automated optical wafer inspection equipment at KLA Instruments and KLA-Tencor.
Ezra Van Gelder holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Tel Aviv University, Israel and a M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Santa Clara University, California, USA.
Vice President of Finance
Will Wollesen brings over 10 years of professional experience working in and around venture-backed companies and brings practical insight to IntegenX both from a financial and legal perspective. Will was previously a legal and financial consultant at Cypress Peak, a company he co-founded, and was able to assist numerous clients with financings and acquisitions. Prior to that, Will worked for a private investment firm in Silicon Valley where he made investments in technology companies and venture capital and private equity funds.
Will received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Brigham Young University and his Juris Doctorate from Santa Clara University.
