Matt Edelman – CEO
Matt brings to ThisNext, Inc. a unique blend of operational, creative and strategic skills. More than $1 billion dollars have been spent by consumers on products developed by companies in which Matt has played a leadership role. Prior to joining ThisNext, Matt was the co-founder and CEO of PeopleJam, Inc., which reached more than 3mm people every month through PeopleJam.com and the PeopleJam Advertising Network. PeopleJam was the largest independent web property helping people interested in self improvement find the products and content most likely to help them achieve their life goals. PeopleJam was sold to Chicken Soup for the Soul Publishing in June 2009. Before PeopleJam, Matt ran the international publishing and business development groups of Mforma Group (now Hands-On Mobile), a leading publisher of lifestyle applications and games for mobile devices. Prior to Mforma, Matt was the Senior Vice President of Marvel Studios, the entertainment division of Marvel Enterprises, where he helped build and oversee a new film and television studio from the ground up and served as a production executive on film and TV projects featuring classic characters such as Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man, Hulk and more. At Marvel, Matt developed a passion for new media as a founding member of the team that launched Marvel.com. He then combined that passion with his entrepreneurial drive by becoming the President of Eruptor.com, an online and mobile entertainment company, upon leaving Marvel. Matt also has spent time as a digital advisor to numerous media companies, including Chicken Soup for the Soul (following the acquisition of PeopleJam), TV Guide, Primedia, Marvel, Activision and Atom Films. As an advisor and in his executive capacity, Matt has developed digital and traditional media products for companies such as MTV, Fox, Nike, Maxim, Sony Pictures, MTV, SyFy Network, Seventeen Magazine, Billboard Magazine, World Poker Tour, CBS Sportsline, About.com and every major film studio. Matt graduated with a degree in Politics from Princeton University and spent two years in New York City as an investment banking analyst with Bankers Trust Corp before moving to Los Angeles to work for Marvel.
Dan Paik – VP of Technology
Dan joined the ThisNext team in 2009. At ThisNext, Dan leads the technology and IT infrastructure of the company. Prior to ThisNext, Dan served as Co-Founder and CTO of Juice Wireless, a mobile wireless software company. At Juice, Dan successfully built and launched JuiceCaster, the award winning mobile social networking application connecting the mobile phone to online social networking and multimedia sharing websites. Prior to Juice, Dan worked as an engagement manager and technology lead at KPMG Consulting primarily focusing on B2B and B2C web applications. Dan has a bachelors degree in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley and will be graduating in May 2010 with an MBA (major in Finance) from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Quinn Goldstein – VP of Business Operations
Prior to joining ThisNext, Quinn spent six years at Roll International: (Fiji Water, Teleflora, POM Wonderful Pomegranate juice) where he served first as Director of Operations and finally as Director of Marketing for Teleflora. He was also an early member of the DotTV team, an idealab company that eventually was sold to VeriSign (NASDAQ: VRSN). Quinn holds a BS degree from MIT.
Tyson Woeste – Director of Product
Tyson joined the company before launch in 2006. He leads the Product and SEO teams as well setting brand and community direction for the company. Prior to ThisNext he has worked as an engineer in all kinds of industries including aerospace, fiber optics and lithium ion batteries. Tyson has an Engineering degree from The University of Victoria where he was Valedictorian and graduated with honors, and an MBA from UCLA where he was a Deutschman Venture Fellow.
Kevin Ayers – CFO
Kevin Ayers has been with ThisNext since early 2006. His background in senior finance and accounting roles in technology companies, including venture-funded manufacturers such as Fibermux and Xylan. He has also served as the CFO of En Pointe Technologies, a publicly-traded supplier of PCs, as well as shopping comparison engine PriceGrabber.com. Ayers holds an MS in finance and a BS in business administration, both from California State University, Northridge.
